This imposing sculpture portrays Hecate, the ancient and complex Greek deity of magic, night, and crossroads, in a garment that blends classical elegance with a gothic and martial aesthetic. Crafted from a matte black resin that seems to absorb light itself, the statue emanates an aura of impenetrable mystery and absolute authority.
The goddess is depicted with an athletic and defined physique, symbolizing a strength that is not only spiritual but also primordial. Her face is concealed by a heavy veil that falls below her eyes, emphasizing her nature as a deity of secrets and the occult; atop the veil rests a seven-pointed radial crown, which evokes both solar majesty and power over the directions of the cosmos.
She wears a draped gown that skillfully wraps around her hips, leaving her bust partially exposed to reveal an Ankh pendant on her chest, a symbol of eternal life and power over souls.
In her hands, Hecate clutches the instruments of her dominion:
The Torch: Held high in her left hand, the torch features a vivid flame, sculpted dynamically. It represents the light that guides wanderers through the darkness of the underworld and during life's transitions.
The Boline (Sickle): In her right hand, she wields a curved blade, a ritual tool used to sever ties with the past or gather magical herbs, symbolizing her aspect as a "Cutter" and guide in radical transformations.
At her feet, poised for action, are two majestic wolves (or hellhounds). The creatures are sculpted with tense muscles and thick fur, their muzzles lowered in a stance of vigilant guard. They represent the goddess's connection to the wild world and her ability to see and hear what escapes mortals.
The use of the matte black finish is not only an aesthetic choice but a symbolic one: it transforms the statue into a solid shadow, a "void" that fills the space, making Hecate the very personification of the Dark Night of the Soul and the wisdom found in the silence of the crossroads.
A figure that doesn't just decorate an environment, but seems to guard the threshold between the visible and the invisible.
